Cardinal Numbers

Cardinal Numbers

We mostly use them to count : I have five apples.
or to give our age: I am twenty years old.
give a telephone number : Her telephone number is one-five-two, three-four-four-four.
give years: My mother was born in nineteen forty-five. ( We do not say one thousand nine hundred and forty-five !! This is only for the years 2000 and on, so we can say two thousand and two (2002). But in this example we need to say first 19 and then 45.)

There also are ordinal numbers, which we use to put something in order. This numbers are really important too. If you don't know them yet then click on the link and you'll see the lesson about the ordinal numbers. :) Also don´t forget to watch the video below, as you need to learn the pronunciation for the words.

Also you need a hyphen (-) for the numbers between 21 and 99. ( twenty-one, ...) and long numbers are divided by a comma so the numbers 2000000 would be 2,000,000.
